Moxlow Earns Pole, Breaks Track Record, and Produces First Professional Podium During Trans Am Debut
Lexington, Ohio (21 August 2013)— Dane Moxlow, pilot of the #20 Trenton Forging/ Cardinal Energy Group/Huntington Bank Ford Mustang Boss 302s, made his Trans Am debut in the TA3 class for Round 6 of the Trans Am Championship last weekend at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. And quite a debut it was! Moxlow earned the pole during qualifying and broke a TA3 track record, starting the weekend out on a positive note that was long overdue for the Autosport Development team.
After multiple strategy sessions with the crew to address the extra 25 minutes of race time (75 minutes in Trans Am compared to 50 minutes in World Challenge), Moxlow hit the pavement for the race. He led most of the event until a transmission issue and a mistake on cold tires caused him to drop back. Battling through traffic and competitors that had passed him under yellow, Moxlow was able to make his way forward to P2 where he received his first professional podium finish, complete with a champagne shower.
“Finally getting to perform on a stage where talent could be shown rather than controlled by politics and parity issues was relieving and exciting. We showed our true colors: our professionalism and talents. Being on the pole, breaking a track record, and finishing on the podium in a professional series is a major milestone in my career as a driver. I look forward to seeing it all play out again and again,” says Moxlow.
